One foot in the vineyard, the other in the board room

Waitrose
At Waitrose, Anne worked in the wines, beers and spirits buying team, including as Category Manager for around a decade from 2012. This gives her a solid commercial grounding and understanding of the retail and distribution landscape. She also had responsibility for various consumer engagement propositions, including wine content in various publications, food and wine pairing, competitions, and she was the driving force behind the creation of the successful Waitrose Drinks Festival. She also worked on projects developing the online propositions for Waitrose Cellar.
Sustainable Wine Roundtable
The Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) is an independent global platform dedicated to advancing sustainability in the wine industry.
Anne was on the founding board of the Sustainable Wine Roundtable, when she worked at Waitrose, and also instigated the retailer sub-group. She continues to collaborate with them and other international sustainability organisations such as the Porto Protocol and International Wineries for Climate Action.

Regenerative Viticulture Foundation
As Development Director of the RVF, Anne helps lead the organisation’s strategic direction (including new branding and digital presence), and our engagement across the global wine industry. My work spans international webinars, presentations, and collaborations that help shape the conversation around regenerative viticulture. I’m deeply committed to supporting growers on their transition journey and to building a resilient, future-focused wine sector. With new projects emerging with retailers and consumers, my focus is on strengthening the bridge between regenerative practices and the market, while ensuring every grower feels supported, informed, and empowered to take the next step through projects such as the One Block Challenge™

WineGB
As Sustainability Advisor to WineGB, I work alongside the WineGB team and growers and winemakers across the UK to help shape a future where our wines are not only outstanding, but produced in ways that strengthen the landscapes and communities behind them. I was part of the team that helped bring the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB) scheme to life, and I’m now supporting its evolution as it develops into its next phase. Alongside my consultancy with producers, much of my work involves listening to producers and supporting strategic planning for sustainability: understanding the pressures they face, the innovations they’re exploring, and the practical support they need to make meaningful environmental progress. I help translate the big sustainability questions into approaches that work in the context of the UK’s unique climate, soils, and rapidly growing wine sector and the commercial context of companies within it. At the heart of it, my role is about championing a thoughtful, credible and sustainable sector that allows our industry to thrive for generations to come.
